Dancers
Christine “Tine Machine” Gatchalian grew up dancing in the clubs in California and New York, alongside the pioneers and masters of hip hop, house, waacking, and tap including Buddha Stretch, Brian “Footwork” Green, Archie Burnett, Cricket, Marjory Smarth, Michelle Dorrance, and Kumari Suraj. She is a founding member of MAWU, a NYC based house dance crew and Five Non-Blondes, a London based authentic jazz troupe.
Lakshmi Iyengar is a teacher, dancer, and choreographer based in London and NYC. Their dance styles include Waacking, Baratanatyam, Bollywood, and Bhangra. They Waack with the House of Suraj (Kumari Suraj) and teach and perform with BollyQueer, a Queer South Asian Dance collective focused on gender-inclusive movement in London.
Hana Carlson is from the US. Currently a BA3 student at The Place, they study contemporary dance and have enjoyed authentic jazz, groove, and waacking. They are also passionate about choreography, teaching, and making dance that changes people.
